Darkness to Light, a national nonprofit organization committed to increasing public awareness of child sexual abuse, was founded in response to staggering statistics:  1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused by the age of 18. In seconds, their childhoods are shattered, their innocence stolen forever. Worse still, the effects haunt them for years, increasing the likelihood of drug and alcohol dependency, eating disorders, teen pregnancy, delinquency, violent crime, and debilitating fear.

But the damage doesn't end there. The impact on youth-serving organizations can be dramatic. Child molesters are drawn to organizations which serve youth. When this happens, the costs are enormous. Children are hurt, the organization's reputation is tarnished, and the financial loss can be devasting.

Darkness to light has developed Stewards of Children -- a revolutionary prevention training program developed for youth organizations.  It was designed to educate adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.  Stewards of Children equips and empowers adults to keep children safe.
