Training

CONTACT the Crisis Line offers a twice-annual series of classes that prepare volunteers to assist troubled callers by listening, counseling, providing referrals, and intervening in crises. The classes are informative and interesting. The atmosphere is one of fun and fellowship.

Classes meet for three hours once a week for 14 weeks. The Fall series meets on Tuesday or Thursday evenings; the Spring classes meet on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons.

Volunteers are asked to pledge at least 8 hours per month for a period of at least one year following graduation. Some of our volunteers have been answering calls for many years.

Learn basic counseling techniques and about available community services. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for persons with compassion and the ability to keep confidences.
